"RATOM"(Bitterness)

"Ratom" art exhibition runs from December 10, 2017 to January 13, 2018 at YMD Art Space, KhonKaen. The duration of the exhibition is consistent with the idea of Ratom’s (Bitterness) drawing, that is, to imagine and recall childhood memories. One of the themes that will be found in Ratom’s works is the patterns and models of authority in Thai society. Most of the works have a background that relating to the school or the education system. It is a reflection that makes us realize clearly that teachers are the highest authority in the school and in turn, students are the lowest authority. Students have no power to negotiate a disagreement and also having so little involvement in teaching and learning process.

Nevertheless, No matter how much “Ratom” have prepared and practiced, the dark humors created form “fearfulness” of Ratom’s childhood will always get defeated by teachers’ authority.

“Ratom” will never overcome teachers, but with the Ratom (bitterness)’s laughing, we can’t deny that this is what we really encounter today and we laugh together at the same joke in this generation
